About Bozuk düzen (long neck)

Bozuk düzen, also called kara düzen, is the traditional tuning of the long-neck saz and the âşık and Alevi traditions. The courses are alt La, orta Re, üst Sol. The middle and top courses sit a fourth apart, which gives the characteristic open, droning sound of the long-neck repertoire played with the fingers (şelpe) or a pick.

Tuning tips

Strings that change pitch for Bozuk düzen (long neck) change tension too, and a lowered string may buzz or feel loose. Tune slightly below the note and come back up so the gear holds, and give the neck a few minutes to settle before you check again.

Use Auto mode: the tuner already knows the notes of Bozuk düzen (long neck) and picks the nearest string. If a string is far off, tap its chip to lock it in Manual mode, then turn the peg until the needle centres.
